Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and his wife Melinda, who have been married for 27 years, earlier this month announced their divorce in separate Twitter posts. While the reason behind their divorce is still unknown, it has been a matter of speculation lately.
Wang shared a close relationship with Bill Gates
Although the couple on May 4 said that they took the decision after ‘a lot of thought’, people have been trying to guess the reason behind their separation. According to a report, Bill Gates’ Chinese interpreter Zhe Shelly Wang had a role to play in it.
Reports claimed that Wang shared a close relationship with Bill. Earlier this month, Wang released a statement denying any involvement in the divorce after rumours of her role spread on the internet.
“I though that the rumours would go away by themselves, but I did not expect the rumours to become more and more crazily spread,” Wang wrote on Chinese microblogging website Weibo.
Is Zhe Shelly Wang is conjecturing reasons for the high-profile couple’s divorce
Zhe Shelly Wang, 36, is associated with the Gates Foundation, world’s largest private charitable trust since 2015, 15 years after its inception in the year 2000. She has been in the limelight after netizens started conjecturing reasons for the high-profile couple’s divorce.
Wang was reportedly born in Guangzhou and later moved to the United States. She holds a business degree from Brigham Young University and owned a restaurant in Utah too. As per her bios, she is versed in Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Spanish languages.
Meantime, Bill and Melinda will continue to be co-chairs and trustees of the Gates Foundation. They also said that they would continue their joint work on the foundation, which funds programmes in global health, education, and other causes.
