Famous cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s father Yograj Singh recently made headlines for his controversial remarks against women and several political leaders. The remarks were made during the Farmer’s protest rally in Delhi. Singh in a controversial statement said that ” Their women were sold for two cents it is the Sikhs who saved them from the torture.”
Speaking on Political leaders he further stated that leaders have “stabbed” the farmers in the back. “It is the people who elected them and brought them to power, and they backstabbed us, I have seen these political leaders getting sold in crores in Delhi,” he said in a statement. He further stated that Gujaratis are not loyal and would even take a U-turn even after swearing-in on their mothers and sisters.
Following the controversy, the Director of the upcoming film-“The Kashmir Files” Vivek Agnihotri sent a termination letter to the retired cricketer/actor stating his exit from the film. In a statement, Agnihotri said-” I cannot withstand such remarks, it’s shameful, though he has been in a lot of controversies earlier as well I went on to ignore them as I try not to mix artist with art and keep the political discourse away from it.
But, this time I just couldn’t ignore it the way he tried to create a hateful divisive narrative is just unacceptable”. He further stated that he had sent an official termination letter to the actor and he doesn’t care whatever he replies. He stated- ” I am not a commercial filmmaker, I make films with purpose, I vouch for truth through find and I want a man spreading hate to be a part of the truth.”
It is now being said that veteran actor Puneet Issar has been approached for the role. The Kashmir Files is an upcoming film based on Kashmiri pandit refugees and the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in the 1990s.
