Cobbled together after the Assembly election in a set of circumstances unique to Maharashtra’s politics, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government – comprising the Shiv Sena, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and the Congress – was seen as the textbook example of a desperate alliance. The Maha Vikas Aghadi experiment, where three unlikely partners joined forces to keep the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) out of power, was claimed to have created a template for similar experiments in other states. Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition choose Uddhav Thackeray as CM.
Sharad Pawar unhapp with CM Uddhav Thackeray’s decision
The news is that everything is not OK with the coalition. As Sharad Pawar has expressed his displeasure many times over several issues. Last year he had expressed unhappiness over Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray’s decision to hand over Elgar Parshad case to the NIA. Pawar had told that while the central government’s decision directing NIA to take over Elgar Parishad case was unfair, the state government’s approval to it was more unfair.
Criticism of CM Thackeray
“Maintaining law & order is a state subject. It is unfair to encroach upon the rights of the state and Maharashtra’s support to this move is more unfair,” Pawar told the reporters. In middle of the ugly tussle between Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut and Maharashtra government over move to demolish actor’s office in Mumbai, many had criticised the CM Thackeray including Mr Pawar.
Sharad Pawar is regreeting on his decision
Amid speculations on political stability in the Maha Vikas Aghadi government, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray met Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President Sharad Pawar several times. However, they did not reveal what transpired between the two leaders.
Speculation is that Pawar is not happy with the Maharashtra CM Thackeray. He now regrets the decision to make him the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. However, no one is talking anything in public. They somehow are trying to hide the rift among them and showing that all is well in Maha Vikas Aghadi in Maharashtra.
