New Delhi: The chairman of Tata Trust Foundation Ratan Tata showered all his praises and blessings for the upcoming new Parliament building whose foundation was laid here on Thursday.
Tata said- “It is an impressive project and I wish it all success. I am privileged to be invited to the foundation stone laying ceremony,”
PM Narendra Modi laid the foundation on Thursday in New Delhi for the new building. This building will be built in an area of 64,500 square meters at an expense of Rs 971 crores(estimated). There will be approximately 888 seats for Lok Sabha members and more than 326 seats for Rajya Sabha members in the new building. Tata Projects Ltd. has been given the contract for the construction of the project.
The new Parliament building is part of the central government’s Central Vista project. Some petitioners have filed a plea challenging the project on environmental grounds. Though the foundation stone has been laid but the government has ensured the Supreme Court that no construction will be undertaken till it clears the legal hurdles in its way.
