Get Your Ration Card At Home By Applying Online: A ration card is a very necessary document for not only the poor people who can get cheap ration, but it is also used to take advantage of many government schemes as well. Along with this, it also acts as an identity proof at most of the places. Sometimes people find it very difficult to get a ration card. Actually, the state government issues ration cards. But, now due to the One Nation-One Ration Card scheme of the Central Government, it can be taken from other states besides the parent state as well.

How to get Your Ration Card Online?

If one wants the daily ration at a lower price than the market or say government rate, then one needs to have a ration card. One might think of it as a tedious process but the reality is that you don’t even need to go to a government office. Because now one can get a ration card online as well. The card is issued in two categories- BPL and Non-BPL. The BPL ration card is made by the government for those living below the poverty line, while those living above the poverty line are provided a Non-BPL ration card.

Who all can apply?

A citizen above 18 years of age can apply for a ration card. You can have a ration card belonging only to one state. The head of a household and the names of other family members are also added to it. Times are now gone when one had to literally wear out their slippers by going to government offices again and again. In the Digital India era, one can apply for a ration card online sitting at home.

How to apply

To apply for this, one can apply online by visiting the food portal of your state. For example, if one lives in Uttar Pradesh, he/she will need to visit the website https://fcs.up.gov.in/FoodPortal.aspx. From here one will have to download the ration card form. To get a ration card, one needs to provide an Aadhaar card, voter card, driving license, or any other valid ID. After applying, one has to pay a fee from 5 to 45 rupees. After the form is submitted, it is sent for field verification. The verification is generally completed within 30 days. If the details are found to be correct, the ration card is issued within 30 days.
