New Delhi: Demolishing of a 60 yr old temple has now become a major issue. Both the Ruling Aam Aadmi Party and the opposition Bhartiya Janta Party were seen blaming each other for demolishing the temple. Vishwa Hindu Parishad workers also reached the demolished site and started protesting. Congress has also jumped on the issue now.
The Aam Aadmi Party held a press conference today and accused the BJP-ruled MCD of demolishing the temple as it said that they had submitted an affidavit in the court that the temple is on an encroached land, and thus illegally constructed and should be demolished. It also alleged that the MCD broke this temple on Sunday morning when it was raining so that no one could come to stop. The party further accused the BJP of playing double politics and said that BJP broke the temple but now it is spreading lies to avoid their image being maligned.
On the other hand, BJP said that the Chandni Chowk reconstruction project has been under the supervision of the Delhi Government, and using the plan it always wanted to remove this temple from here. Delhi BJP President Adesh Gupta has also demanded that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal make changes in the design of Chandni Chowk’s reconstruction scheme and should make necessary arrangements to restore Hanuman temple. BJP will also seek Lt. Governor Anil Baijal’s assistance to intervene in this matter.
While protesting at the demolished site the members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad said-” We don’t care who broke the temple, all we want is the temple to be restored as soon as possible, till our demands are not met, we’ll not move from here.
Congress taking an altogether different route and accused both the parties of playing petty politics and accusing each other but the truth is that MCD demolished the temple on the orders of the Delhi Government.
